Harley Earl’s far-reaching engineering designs of trains started showing up in the 1930s and naturally contributed to GM going on to dominate the train body and engine building field by the mid-1950s. Designer-Earl's dream trains literally sold “train travel” to the masses well into the 1960s. Read various New York Times stories, below, covering the entire history of these two history making trains.
Arrow above points out how Harley's dream for the original Train of Tomorrow (M10000) had already taken shape...notice date. By this time, Designer-Earl was already being backed by GM's largest shareholders to be this company's responsible head in charge of all this company's body engineering design. In another words, he ruled the "body politics." Model below is most likely the one of the model "streamlined trains" referred to in above newspaper story.
